On Friday, 7 February 2013, the Croatian Sabor Parliament (Sabor) named Mr. Natko Vlahovic, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Croatia-EU Business Council (CEUBC) and a good friend of AALEP, as one of six external (expert) members to the Sabor European Affairs Committee, chaired by Croatian MP Daniel Mondekar (SDP). AALEP has decided to make sweeping changes in the way it operates in order to reach a more robust web presence, provide more streamlined communications and a complete transformation of its membership structure- which counter to tradition- eliminates dues for most members.

There are sharp differences in corporate tax rates and incentives in Europe to optimize tax payments and in the process boost profits. The European Union is a single market, which means that companies can incorporate anywhere and sell their goods and sefvices across the continent, but because there is no harmonised tax system, it's a playground for smart accountants and tax specialists who know how to exploit the differences.

AALEP has decided to adopt a Free Membership structure (Freemium), in which a majority of members will pay zero dues. Freemium is the combination of the words 'Free' and 'Premium'. Under this business model, simple and basic services will be offered for free for the user and more advanced or additional features at a premium. We believe this new model better fits with our rapidly changing profession and our target audience of influential government relations professionals.
