GERMAN FIRMS THAT COULD SUFFER IN CASE OF RUSSIAN SANCTIONS

  1. Rewe:  The Rewe Supermarket Chain (under the name Billa) generates over 640 million euros of revenues each year from the Russian market. Russia represents the strongest foreign market for the chain.
  2. Volkswagen: Volkswagen has invested until now 1,3 billion euros in the Russian auto industry and a further 1,2 billion is to be invested until 2018. In 2013 the Volswagen Group in Russia sold close to 300,000 vehicles. South from Moscow VW buids in Kaluga its own models like the Octavia. In Nischni Nowgorod, VW builds together with the largest Russian car manufacturer Gaz Modelle cars like the Jetta and Skoda Yeti.
  3. Continental: Continental has open a factory in October 2013 in Kaluga. Four million tires are to be produced each year primarily to serve the Russian market. Already Continental produces in Kaluga in two factories electronic accessories, steering systems and air conditioning equipments.
  4. Siemens: Siemens employees over 3,000 people in Russia and generates close to 2 billion Euros of revenues.
  5. Henkel: Henkel employs close to 2.500 people in Russia (detergent, cosmetics, adhesives).
  6. Metro: Metro (Saturn, Media Markt, Real, Kaufhof) employs 25.000 people in 117 businesses.
  7. Thyssen-Krupp: Thyssen-Krupp has seven local representations in Russia with close to 1,100 people. The company is active in oil and gas, refinery, polymers and intermediate organic products, as well as products for industrial installations and infrastructure.
  8. BMW: BMW builds vehicles in Kaliningrad  since 2003 cars with Russian partners Avtotor.
  9. Claas: Class builds agricultural machinery in Krasnodar. 1.000 machinery are planned each year.
  10. Wintershall: Oil and gas producer Wintershall is involved in West Siberia, southern Russia and lays pipelines.
  11. Eon: E-On the Energy giant is the largest foreign investor in the Russian dominated energy market. Eon has 5 natural has power plants in Russia which account for 6% of the total Russian capacity.
  12. Knauf: Knauf (construction materials) has 19 plants in the CIS countries. In Russia, Knauf employs more than 6,700 people and Russian revenues represent one fifth of the total revenues of the company (5,7 billion euros).
  13. Bosch: In 2012 Bosch made about 1 billion euros of revenues in Russia. And the company is expanding. At the end of February 2014 started a new factory in Samara.
  14. Knorr-Bremse: The manufacturer of brake systems, rolling stocks and utility vehicles has entered into joint venture with Russian railroads RDZ
