MEDIATION NEEDED TO DEFUSE TENSIONS BETWEEN THE US AND THE NORTH KOREA

Back in July 2017, the Russian and Chinese foreign ministries adopted a joint statement following the talks of the countries’ leaders in Moscow on the issues of the Korean peninsula.

KIM JONG UN STATEMENT TO TRUMP

"The speech made by the US president in his maiden address on the UN arena in the prevailing serious circumstances, in which the situation on the Korean peninsula has been rendered tense as never before and is inching closer to a touch-and-go state, is arousing worldwide concern. 

"Shaping the general idea of what he would say, I expected he would make stereotyped, prepared remarks a little different from what he used to utter in his office on the spur of the moment as he had to speak on the world's biggest official diplomatic stage. 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO UKRAINE

The EU has pledged a €12.8 billion support package  to support the reform process in Ukraine

UKRAINIAN UTOPIA

At the UN General Assembly, President Poroshenko discussed the establishment of an international circle of friends of de-occupation of the Crimea for the coordination of joint steps and actions. The aim of this proposal calls for Russia’s peaceful withdrawal from Crimea. To this end Ukraine proposes  to use all available instruments of international law, international courts and arbitrages, monitoring mechanisms, international organizations and fora. The EU non-recognition policy gives Ukraine confidence in the overwhelming support by its international partners.

U.S.-NORTH KOREAN NUCLEAR AND MISSILE DIPLOMACY (2017)

  1. April 6, 2017: U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping meet and agree to cooperate more closely on achieving denuclearization of North Korea.  
  2. April 17, 2017: Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia, Susan Thornton, tells reporters about the U.S. policy toward North Korea, which officials describe as "maximum pressure and engagement." Thornton said that Washington is looking for a "tangible signal" from North Korea about its seriousness in engaging in talks and there is not a "specific precondition." 

EXPLAINING CRIMEA REUNIFICATION WITH RUSSIA

  1. The Crimean people were entitled to self-determination by means of remedial secession i.e. people may claim to secession from an existing state provided that their existence is at stake due to serious massive repressions of that state.
  2. At the core of the narrative of the self-determination of the Crimean people is the coup d’état carried out in Ukraine in February of 2014 , which was followed by the collapse of the Ukrainian state; consequently, the Crimean people, fearing possible persecution, acquired the right to secede from Ukraine and join Russia.

REPORT ON MOLDOVA

With a GDP of just over $6 billion and GDP per capita of some $2,200, Moldova is among the poorest countries in Europe. Some 20 percent of the population live below the poverty line.. Moldova’s official population (not counting Transdniestria) is approximately 3.5 million.

ALTERNATIVE FÜR DEUTSCHLAND (AfD) AND LOBBYING

  1. Demands that Members of Parliament devote their full attention to their parliamentary duties. Parliamentary duties should not be adversely affected by paid sideline activities. Sideline activities of Members of Parliament have reached such a scale that they are having a detrimental effect on democracy and parliamentary duties. Many representatives use their political mandate to obtain lucrative sideline jobs for personal enrichment. However, the greatest danger that sideline activities pose to democracy is that they are frequently associated with lobbyism, or even corruption.

ABOUT THE GERMAN ELECTIONS

On September 24, Germans head to the polls in a parliamentary vote that will determine whether Angela Merkel remains Chancellor. Germany has a notoriously complex voting system for electing its Bundestag, or Lower House. The system seeks to combine the benefits of both direct and proportional representation.

This year, 61.5 million people age 18 and above are eligible to vote in the national election, according to figures from Germany's Federal Statistics Office.
