PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FRAMEWORK FOR PRACTITIONERS

The Professional Standards Framework for Practitioners has for purpose:
- To support the initial and continuing professional development of individuals engaged in the field of public policy advocacy, public affairs, lobbying and interest representation.
- To foster dynamic approaches to lobbying through creativity, innovation and continuous development in diverse academic and/or professional settings.
- To demonstrate to stakeholders the professionalism that practitioners can bring to lobbying.
- To acknowledge the variety and quality of lobbying practices.
- To facilitate individuals in gaining formal recognition for quality enhanced approaches to lobbying often as part of wider responsibilities that may include research (policy analysis) and/or management activities.
Descriptors
- Demonstrates an understanding of specific aspects of effective lobbying/
- Demonstrates a broad understanding of effective approaches to lobbying as key contributions to public policy and the democratic process.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of effective approaches to lobbying as a key contribution to improved public policies and the decision-making process.
- Demonstrates a sustained record of effective strategic leadership in the practice of lobbying and developments.
Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct are the ethical benchmark for practitioners regardless of job title, cultural differences, or local laws.
A Code of Ethics maintains that practitioners must:
- Place the integrity of the profession and the interests of clients above their own interests;
- Act with integrity, competence, and respect;
- Maintain and develop your professional competence
Standards of Professional Conduct cover:
- Professionalism and integrity;
- Duties to clients and employers;
- Analysis and recommendations;
- Conflicts of interest and responsibilities.
