TRUMP AMBASSADORIAL NOMINATIONS- EUROPE

EUROPE LINK TO RUSSIAN GAS

Europe is the biggest importer of natural gas in the world, and the European Union sees natural gas as the key contributor to its transition to a lower carbon world over the next two decades. Russia currently provides about a third of Europe’s gas.

WHY TRUMP SHOULD VETO THE RUSSIAN SANCTIONS BILL

  1. The legislation interferes with Constitutionally derived executive power : The current legislation seeks not only to impose sanctions that have been proposed by Congress rather than the Executive, but the bill would force Trump and ostensibly any successor in the White House to go through Congress in order to repeal the sanctions. In this sense, the legislation grants the Legislature powers which are generally a prerogative of the Executive branch.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE : POSITIONS WITHOUT NOMINEES

The current situation in the U.S. Foreign Service is the result of many important posts remaining unfilled six months into Trump’s administration. That’s create a vacuum in the carrying out of U.S. foreign policy that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is struggling to deal with. Some of this problem is due to congressional Democrats’ slow-walking all presidential appointments and jamming up the confirmation process. But at the same time it’s tough for anyone Republicans or Democrats to confirm a nominee who hasn’t been nominated.
