PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY OF THE EUROPEAN FINANCIAL SERVICES ROUNDTABLE (EFSR)
The European Financial Services Roundtable (EFSR) is modelled on the European Roundtable of Industrialists (ERT) and similarly does not allow companies as members, but instead is made up of their chief executives. The EFSR currently has 22 members from some of the largest financial firms in Europe, most of them banks and insurance companies. (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Reinsurance Company, Chairman of the Executive Board of ING Group, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG, Managing Director of Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A., Chairman of the Group Management Board and CEO of Axa, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole SA, Chairman of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, President and CEO of SEB, Group Chairman of HSBC, Chief Executive Officer of Unicredit, Chairman and CEO of BBVA, Chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc, Chairman and CEO of MAPFRE, CEO of Santander, Chairman of Aviva plc, Chairman of the Board of BNP Paribas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Group, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Insurance Group, Group Chief Executive of Prudential, Chairman of Nordea, CEO of UBS, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Aegon NV).
The purpose of the EFR is to contribute to the European public policy debate on issues relating to financial services and to the financial stability with the completion of the single market in financial services. The EFR is also engaged in the lessons to be drawn from the financial crisis to render the financial system more resilient.
The EFR deals in particular with the global G20 agenda, regulation and supervision, consumer protection and pensions. The EFR has published, inter alia, positions, reports and press releases on a wide range of topics such as European retail market, G20 agenda, the integration of pensions in Europe, harmonisation of regulation and supervision and consumer protection.
