THE EUROPEAN TECH ALLIANCE (EUTA)
The European Tech Alliance is a group of fast-growing tech companies that have been built in Europe. They have recently found success and now want to scale up, so that they can continue to grow and compete globally. The EU Tech Alliance wants to use its collective experience to feed into the push to strengthen Europe's digital economy.

1. Adevinta: Adevinta is is a global online classifieds specialist, operating digital marketplaces in 12 countries. The company provides technology-based services to connect buyers with sellers and to facilitate transactions, from job offers to real estate, cars, consumer goods and more. Adevinta’s portfolio spans 35 digital products and websites, attracting 1.5 billion average monthly visits. Leading brands include top-ranked leboncoin in France, InfoJobs and Milanuncios in Spain, and 50% of fast-growing OLX Brazil. Adevinta spun off from Schibsted ASA and is publicly listed in Oslo, Norway in 2019. Adevinta employs 4,700 people committed to supporting users and customers daily.
2. Allegro: Allegro is the Polish leader in the e-commerce market. Allegro.pl is the largest online Polish marketplace. For over 19 years, Allegro has been influencing the way people shop online in Poland and the CEE region. Allegro was established in 1999 in Poznań, initially as auction website. Over the years it evolved into Poland’s most popular and vibrant online marketplace that makes online shopping safe and simple and helps to discover best value and great selection of products. Allegro connects millions of Polish customers and sellers and provide them with best tools to trade effectively. The company employs over 1700 people and has offices in Poznań, Warsaw, Toruń, Wrocław and Cracow. Each day, customers visiting Allegro buy over 1 million items. There are over 21 million registered Allegro user accounts. This includes buyers, individual sellers and over 125.000 Polish companies listing their offers at the platform.
3. Back Market: Back Market is the world’s first marketplace dedicated to refurbished electronics. Back Market stands behind the idea that Europe should be the leader in making tech devices and appliance consumption more virtuous than it currently is, without any sacrifice on the part of the consumer. Back Market is headquartered in Paris, France.
4. Bol.com: Bol.com was founded in the Netherlands in 1999 from a construction site in Vianen. Bol.com was the first online bookstore in Europe. It is the largest online retail platform in the Benelux and it has expanded its range of books to a range millions products in dozens of product categories, with a focus on non-food. It counts 37.000 local entrepreneurs who sell via bol.com to its customers, >11 million Dutch and Belgians. Bol.com has over 2,000 employees, who work at the head office in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Bol.com has been part of Ahold Delhaize since 2012.
5. Bolt: Bolt is the leading European mobility platform. Bolt is a technology platform helping people millions of around the globe move around in their cities. The mobility platform is used by more than 25 million users in 30+ countries across Europe, Africa and beyond. Bolt believes in a future with less car ownership and more flexible urban mobility. By bringing reliable on-demand transport to everyone, Bolt is helping cities reduce traffic congestion, CO2 emissions and pollution. Bolt is one of the fastest-growing startups in Europe, having raised $175 million at a $1 billion valuation in its latest investment round, backed by major, industry-savvy investors such as Daimler and Didi Chuxing.
6. Booking.com: Booking.com was founded in the Netherlands in 1996 and has its global headquarters in Amsterdam. In the past 20 years, Booking.com has become the world leader in booking hotel and other accommodations online. Booking.com has a team of over 15,000 dedicated employees in over 180 offices worldwide, the Booking.com website is available in over 40 languages, offers over 1.2 million hotels and accommodations and covers over 110,000 destinations in 228 countries and territories. It features over 118 million reviews written by guests after their stay, and attracts online visitors from around the globe. Booking.com operates its own in-house customer service team, which is available 24/7 to assist guests in their native languages and ensure an exceptional customer experience.
7. Brand24: Brand 24 started in 2011. Thousands of brands of all sizes (incl. Intel, IKEA, H&M, GlaxoSmithKleine, Carlsberg) use Brand24 to identify and analyse online conversations about their brands, products and competitors. Brand24’s work and progress has been recognized by some of the top organizations in the world (TNW Startup Awards, SaaStr 2016 Competition). It is the most popular Internet and social media monitoring tool in Poland. Brand24 is a solution used by clients from over 30 countries including USA, UK, Poland, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria, China, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Nigeria, Ireland.
8. CDiscount: Cdiscount is a French e-commerce website with products such as electronics, household appliances and food. Cdiscoount is a subsidiary of Cnova, the e-commerce pole of the Casino group. It counts 20 millions users in the site each month.
9. Code for All: Code for All is tackling the skills gap in two different ways: Through its coding Bootcamps: in 14 intensive weeks, that transform jobless brilliant minds into Junior Developers, getting them back in the job market and through its Platform offering hundreds of children in Portugal programming lessons with its computer science personalized learning platform, that empowers teachers and makes learning code a lot of fun.
10. Criteo: Criteo is the advertising platform for the open Internet, an ecosystem that favors neutrality, transparency and inclusiveness. 2,700 Criteo team members partner with over 19,000 customers and thousands of publishers around the globe to deliver effective advertising across all channels, by applying advanced machine learning to unparalleled data sets. Criteo empowers companies of all sizes with the technology they need to better know and serve their customers.
11. Daily Motion: Dailymotion was founded in 2005 in Paris. Dailymotion is a global video streaming service that connects over 350 million entertainment-seekers to their personal world of news and entertainment. Dailymotion is the one-stop place for enjoying stories from the best creators around in one heightened video experience.
12. Delivery Hero: DeliveryHero is a German food odering and on-demand delivery service. Currently operating in 50 countries across 4 continents Delivery Hero has quickly become a household name not only in Europe, but the world. Delivery Hero are pioneers in the world of quick commerce, with a promise to fulfill deliveries in under an hour.
13. DreamsTime: Dreamstime was founded in 2000. Dreamstime was the second launched microstock photography agency in the world. The agency evolved from only a few thousand online photos to a varied database currently counting more than 55 million files, including stock clipart, audio and footage. Dreamstime also holds the largest customer database in the industry. In 2011 and 2012 the agency launched two other projects, TimelineImages for Facebook covers and Stockfreeimages for free/low cost stock images. It is available in 13 different languages, its community numbers 17.5 million registered members and more than 350 thousand contributing photographers and artists from all over the world. Dreamstime is one of the world leaders in Stock photography and one of the few agencies that remain independent.
14. eDreams ODIGEO: eDreams ODIGEO is one of the world’s largest online travel companies and one of the largest European e-commerce businesses.

15. eMag: eMAG is one of CEE’s leading e-shop and online marketplace. For the past 18 years, eMAG developed a customer-focused culture by investing in technology-based solutions aimed at helping +10.7 million clients save time and money while constantly improving their online experience. eMAG is one of the leading regional retail platforms with operations in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. As an entrepreneurial company, eMAG wanted to share its experience and know-how to the local community of entrepreneurs in order to help them grow. Summed up, those services currently attract 50 million users in 16 markets and more than 150 cities. FREE NOW is therefore the biggest multi-service mobility provider in Europe and the fastest-growing ride-hailer in Latin America. FREE NOW works with various third party providers to offer their customers an even wider range of options to get from A to B. In total, around 1,900 employees in 38 offices work for the services of FREE NOW.
17. Glovo: Glovo is a Barcelona-based delivery service, operating in 21 countries. With around 3.5 million active customers, Glovo has become one of the leading multi-category apps connecting users with stores and independent couriers, offering on-demand services from local restaurants and stores in the city.
18.Klarna: Klarna was founded in Stockholm in 2005 with the idea of simplifying buying. It does this by letting the consumer receive the goods first and pay afterwards, while it assumes the credit and fraud risks for the merchants. Today, Klarna is one of Europe’s fastest growing companies. In 2014 it joined forces with Sofort and formed Klarna Group. Klarna Group has more than 1,200 employees and is active on 18 markets. It serves 35 million consumers and work with 50 000 merchants. Its goal is to become the world’s favorite way to buy.
19.LearnWorlds: LearnWorlds is an e-learning company that is transforming self-paced learning. Its white-label SaaS platform offers professional trainers, training organizations, and businesses a hassle-free way to create their own, personally-branded, online school. LearnWorlds functions as an “educational amplifier” since it transforms the study of textual and video-based learning material into an interactive, social, gamified, enjoyable and notably effective learning practice. Since its official market launch in May 2014, LearnWorlds set a new quality standard for e-learning platforms. In July 2014 LearnWorlds won its first international distinction as it was selected among the 9 winners of the Open Education Challenge, competing against 610 startups from 74 countries. 20. Meetic Group: Founded in 2001, Meetic pioneered online dating in Europe, and is now the leading provider of dating services in 15 countries and 13 languages across Europe. Meetic Group operates a portfolio of trusted brands including, Meetic, Match, Lexa, Lovescout, and Ourtime, each designed to increase its users’ likelihood of finding a romantic connection. 21 .ProtonMail: Proton is a Swiss-based provider of secure communications offering built-in end-to-end encryption and state of the art security features. With over 50 million users signed up to Protonmail, the company is a champion for privacy.
22. Prowly:Prowly is a B2B web-based application for marketing and public relations professionals from Poland. It created its Brand Journals (online press office). Partnering with Hill and Knowlton Strategies Poland, it launched its very first Brand Journal with Spotify.
23. Schibsted: Schibsted is a family of digital consumer brands within media, online marketplaces and digital services. It counts 5,000 employees in several European markets and is listed at the Oslo Stock Exchange. It is the largest media group in Scandinavia. Its leading classified marketplaces connect millions of users every month and the company invests in great digital companies.
24. Sentiance: Sentiance is a Belgian data science company turning IOT sensor data into rich insights about people’s behavior and real-time context. These insights enable companies to understand how customers go through their everyday lives, discover and anticipate the moments that matter most, and adapt their engagement to real-world behavior and real-time context.
25. Seznam.cz: Seznam.cz's website is the most visited website in the Czech Republic. Over 90 % of Czech internet population interacts with Seznam.cz‘s services and products every month. Those who are looking for information and entertainment have been using its services for 19 years. Its full text search, on-line maps, company catalogue, e-mail with 7,5 millions of accounts, news service, advertising services, internet TV and other services are a common part of daily life of Czech internet users. Established in 1996, it has grown from a one-man company into an organisation with more than a 1100 employees. It has been awarded many national prizes in various fields. Moreover, the Czech Republic is the only country in the world where the Latin alphabet is used and where Google does not have a monopoly on Internet searches and where it‘s not the number one on the Internet.
26. SoundCloud: SoundCloud is an online audio distribution platform and music sharing website that enables its users to upload, promote, and share audio, as well as a digital signal processor enabling listeners to stream audio. Founded in 2007 , SoundCloud has grown to be one of the largest music streaming services in the world and is available in 190 countries and territories. Audience-wise, there are over 76 million active monthly users, with over 175 million global users that SoundCloud reaches, as of November 2021. While its competitors report having roughly 70 million tracks in their systems, SoundCloud has over 300 million. SoundCloud offers both free and paid memberships on the platform, available for mobile, desktop and Xbox devices.
27. Spotify: Spotify is the world leading and award-winning digital music service. It was launched in 2008. Today, it is the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service with a community of more than 217 million users, including 100 million Spotify Premium subscribers, across 79 markets.
28. Supercell: Supercell is a mobile game developer based in Helsinki, Finland, with offices in San Francisco, Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing. Its games Clash of Clans, Hay Day and Boom Beach are available for tablets and smart phones using both Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating systems. Founded in 2010, Supercell has drawn over 170 of the world’s most talented employees representing more than 30 nationalities into its ranks.
29. TestBirds: Testbirds is a German remote crowdtesting provider. The company was founded in 2011 and quickly convinced clients and investors about the numerous benefits and opportunities of crowdtesting.
30. Tom Tom: TomTom is the leading independent location technology specialist, shaping mobility with highly accurate maps, navigation software, real-time traffic information and services. By combining its extensive experience with leading business and technology partners, Tom Tom powers connected vehicles, smart mobility and, ultimately, autonomous driving. It is headquartered in Amsterdam with offices in 30 countries.
31 .Trivago: Trivago is an online hotel price comparison website. The company has grown to become recognised and used globally, offering 5 million+ hotels and alternative accommodation in 19 countries in 2019.
32. Trustpilot: Trustpilot Group plc, is a Danish consumer business operating a review website founded in Denmark in 2007 which hosts reviews of businesses worldwide. Nearly 1 million new reviews are posted each month. The site offers freemium services to businesses.
33. Vinted: Vinted is the largest online C2C marketplace in Europe dedicated to second-hand fashion, with a growing community of 30 million users spanning 12 markets: the USA, UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Founded in 2008 in Lithuania the company is backed by four leading venture capital firms: Accel Partners, Insight Venture Partners, Burda Principal Investments, and Sprints Capital. Vinted helps members sell and buy second-hand clothes and accessories from each other, making shopping a mobile and social experience through one-on-one member interactions in its community. The European start-up is headquartered in Vilnius, with offices in Berlin, Prague, and Warsaw and has over 400 employees.
34. Wolt: Wolt is a Finnish technology company that operates a restaurant food, grocery, and retail delivery marketplace. The Helsinki-based company operates in 23 countries and 110+ cities, serving food and other goods from over 28,000 merchants with over 45,000 courier partners. The company was founded in 2014, employs 1800+ people today.
35. Xarevision: Xarevision developed numerous solutions to support retail operations and runs the biggest in-store digital network and queue management system in Portugal, deployed in 2007. It has also successfully launched the first worldwide fully-voice-powered shopping list and grocery ordering application, allowing control via Google Home and/or Amazon Alexa voice assistants and via its custom mobile app. To further develop this market, it has recently created a subsidiary, Shelf.AI, both in Europe and in the United States, which offers a 360-degree B2B2C conversational platform for grocery retailers. Using cutting-edge technological tools of artificial intelligence and machine learning, it provides shoppers with a seamless omni-channel experience. 36. Zalando: Zalando SE is a publicly traded German online retailer of shoes, fashion and beauty. The company was founded in 2008 and has almost 49 million active users in 25 European markets. Zalando is active in a variety of business fields - from multi-brand online shopping (including their own brands), the shopping club Zalando Lounge, outlets in 11 German cities, the consultation service Zalon, as well as logistics and marketing offers for retailers. With the program Connected Retail, Zalando connects more than 7,000 businesses to the online fashion platform. In 2021, Zalando counted roughly 17,000 employees.
