ASEM 9 AND AEBF TO BE HELD THIS YEAR IN LAOS

The 9th ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting Summit) will be held in Ventiane, Laos on 5-6 Novmber 2012. ASEM 9 will gather the leaders of 48 ASEM partners to share their thoughts and exchange views on current and global issues of common interest. The ASEM Dialogue addresses political, economic and cultural issues with the objective of strengthening the relationship between the two regions. ASEM 9 will chart out the future direction for ASEM cooperation under the theme "Friends for Peace, Partners for Prosperity".

In parallel to ASEM, the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao, PDR (ECCIL) together with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) will host the Asia-Europe Business Forum (AEBF) on 3-5 November in Ventiane, Laos. The ail of the AEBF is to strengthen economic co-operation between the business sectors of both regions. The AEBF provides a unique platform for high level discussion and networking between business representatives covering trade and investment issues and recommendations to enhance the attractiveness of the Asia-Europe marketplace.

As an Associate Member of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao, PDR, AALEP will attend and participate in this important event.
