EU Health and Food Safety Policy Commitments 2014-2019
- Complete implementation of the Cross-border Healthcare Directive and improve access to medicines in Europe through cooperation on health technology assessments (HTA)
- Work with Member States to complete implementation of the Tobacco Products Directive and ensure timely adoption of related secondary legislation
- Defend EU health and food safety standards in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)
- Continue work on a performance assessment of Member State health systems, including the creation of a common methodology
- Focus on three ‘Ps’: prevention, promotion and protection
- Support the pooling of Member States’ healthcare resources
- Review legislation on the authorisation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in agriculture within six months
- Make progress on the definition of criteria of endocrine disruptors
