EVERYONE'S GOT A JOB NOW!!!
European Union leaders have nominated Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker for European Commission President by an overwhelming majority over the fierce objections of Britain and Hungary. Confirmation of Mr. Juncker's nomination will take place on 16 July in the European Parliament.
The basic monthly salary of the President of the European Commission is fixed at 112.5% of the top civil service grade which, in 2013, amounted to €25,351 per month or €304,212 per year plus an allowance for a residence equal to 15% of salary (about € 50,000) as well as other allowances including for children's schooling and household expenses. To this must be added expenses for travel expenses, official dinners and diplomatic gifts related to the European Commission.
Mr. Martin Schulz will be re-elected for a two-and-a half year term as President of the European Parliament and Mr. Guy Verhostadt will take over thereafter.
