NEW DISTINGUISHED MEMBER FROM BRUSSELS
Ms. Sofia Bobak currently serving as Counsellor to the European Commission and Chief Administrator of Protocol at the Embassy of Belize in Brussels has been approved to join AALEP.
Ms. Bobak is recognized as the Belize Mission expert on European bilateral and multilateral affairs including implementation of special projects and initiatives; identification of opportunities to enhance relations with European thought leaders and institutions; development and implementation of trade policies; securing funds for national and regional development programmes (Central America and the Caribbean); consultant to senior government officials on protocol, communication and policy development; creation and growth of international network to advance political interests; lobbying with other governments and international agencies to create consensus around shared goals.
Among her outstanding achievements, Ms. Bobak helped in establishing the Mission of Belize to the EU; secured a seat for Belize at the Red Cross Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland; designed and implemented eco-tourism initiative for the European market; successfully raised funds for "Restore Belize' programme for children's support agencies, appointed Director of Honorary Consuls in Europe, the Middle East and India and successfully negotiated proposals for funding of regional support programmes.
Since the relations between the EU and Latin America are currently at a worrying stalemate, Ms Bobak will be a great asset in AALEP in advocatig for stronger and more realist ties between the EU and Latin America.
