AALEP 'WOMEN IN GOVERNMENT RELATIONS' RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM MEPs

AALEP Women in Government Relations (AWGR) works to increase women’s presence in the public debate. AWGR is about advancing and empowering women at all career levels in government relations, public affairs and public policy advocacy. As more women enter our field , there is strength in numbers. So it’s important to encourage other women to let their voices heard.

When women are involved at the highest levels of policymaking, everyone benefits. Therefore it is imperative to give women in government relations, public affairs and public policy advocacy the tools and information they need to competently and confidently represent their organisation or cause.

AWGR strives to connect women in our field and promote excellence in their work, train them to hold leadership positions and promote their representation as experts and professionals in this field.

Our GR education programmes include skills-building, workshops and roundtables:

  • Advocacy: Learning tips and techniques to immediately improve your effectiveness
  • Issue Round tables: Engaging in interactive discussions on the policy issues you manage
  • Public affairs and Communications: Discussing traditional and cutting edge methods to reach your desired audience
  • Professional Development: Networking with some of the post influential women in government relations
  • Mentoring: Women can tap into the wisdom and knowledge of their fellow members to seek advice, guidance, and contacts when starting or advancing their career. Making certain that other women at all levels in their careers are accessible and committed to helping advance other women in the field.

Our GR Outreach programme includes:

  • Work with journalists and editors to improve the range and diversity of women’s voices in government relations.
  • Articles, lectures on government relations topics, participation in conferences and public discussions

Our GR MEP Outreach programme:

We are pleased that a dozen women MEPs, namely from Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have recognized the importance of AWGR  and have accepted to participate in AWRG as Emeritus members.

We hope that many women engaged in the field of government relations, public affairs and public policy advocacy will see the benefit of joining our ranks.
