AALEP RECEIVES VISIT OF ECCIL'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

On 22 December 2011, AALEP received the visit in Brussels of Dr. Ramon Bruesseler, Executive Director of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR. Both organizations are linked through a Protocol of Cooperation. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views and to discuss possible action programmes to be implemented in 2012 to further public participation in the Lao decision-making process.

ECCIL is also organizing an Asia Europe Business Forum that will take place in Ventiane from 3 to 5 November 2012. The purpose of this Forum is to look at current and future trends in Asian-European business relations and the regulatory framework. The following sectors will be considered: ICT, Life Science, Tourism, Transportation, Food and Agriculture, Natural Resources and Renewable Energy. The aim of the Organising Committee is to attract as many high calibres CEO's from Europe and Asia to make this Business Forum relevant to Laos and the current market concerns and restrains experienced by participants in the free market industry.

AALEP will lend its assistance to ECCIL in promoting this event among the EU's top CEOs and has been invited by ECCIL to discuss the need to enhance stakeholders' participation and consultation in the elaboration of public policies and the drafting of relevant legislation as it affects their interests.
