AALEP ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

An organizational structure consists of activities such as task allocation, coordination and supervision, which are directed towards the achievement of organizational aims. It can also be considered as the viewing glass or perspective through which individuals both inside and outside see the organization and its environment. The structure of an organization determines the modes in which it operates and performs. It  allows the allocation of responsibilities for different functions and processes to different Divisions.

AALEP structural development reflects other work the association is doing and as the association grows and changes, it is necessary to think about its structure. As an organization with long-term goals of expansion, AALEP needed more concrete and clearer divisional responsibilities and authority hence the launch of 5 distinct Divisions:

  1. AALEP Membership and Services Division (AMSD)
  2. AALEP Publishing Division (APD)
  3. AALEP Consulting Services Division (ACSD) (see announcement on 07/19/2013)
  4. AALEP Academy of Public Policy Advocacy (APPA) (see announcement on 07/31/2013)
  5. AALEP Strategic Alliances and Partnerships Division (SAPD) (see announcement of 07/31/2013)

It is our view that this new structure will serve to

  • tell members how our association is organized and how it works.
  • provide our association a means to optimize value for our members.
  • bind members together as well as give meaning and identity to the people who join the association as well as to our association itself.
