AALEP ADOPTS A FREE MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE (FREEMIUM)

AALEP has decided to adopt a Free Membership structure (Freemium), in which a majority of members will pay zero dues. Freemium is the combination of the words 'Free' and 'Premium'. Under this business model, simple and basic services will be offered for free for the user and more advanced or additional features at a premium. We believe this new model better fits with our rapidly changing profession and our target audience of influential government relations professionals.

New Membership Structure

Almost all membership dues moving forward will be eliminated and we are creating a new ‘Community Member’ category.

1. Community Members

Community Members will receive all AALEP communications, have access to all areas of the website and can engage with other government relations professionals virtually or in person at organised special events. Anyone with a professional interest in government relations is eligible to join as Community Member. We ask only for some basic information in return: Name, Company, Title, Address and Email.

2. Active Members

We retain our ‘Active Member’ category which carries dues rate of € 500 p.a. Active members can vote for officers and governance changes, serve on AALEP’s Board. Active Members receive preference when showcasing content on AALEP website, receive some materials in print form that community members receive only electronically.

3. Student Affiliate Membership

This membership is for our Student Affiliates only. If you do not qualify, please consider Active or Community Membership. Dues for Student Affiliates are € 100 p.a.

We believe AALEP is tearing down barriers- physical, financial, or technological- that prevent anyone with an interest in government relations from participating in events and campaigns, learning about key issues and trends, or engaging with their peers within our Association. We believe this change makes us as open and inclusive as possible, and we look forward to welcoming new members to our community.

We plan to conduct a variety of activities focused generally on improving and enhancing our profession, such as substantial educational programmes, conferences and training. Our challenge will be to motivate Community Members to engage at a higher level, complete their full profile, register for in-person events, or attend a virtual seminar.
