EPACA IN PERSPECTIVE

The European Public Affairs Consultancies Association (EPACA) is the representative trade body for public affairs consultancies working with the EU institutions.

EPACA membership currently comprises 42 companies with over 600 staff and represents a high proportion of EU public affairs services providers.

Based on AALEP research there are close to 200 firms in Brussels that are providers of public affairs/public relations and related services (EU project management, association management). EPACA represents 20% of all such firms and mainly the "big" firms. Among the 200 consultancies over 30% are small-size firms generating between € 100,000 and € 200,000 earnings per year.

Areas of focus for most consultancies are: Public Affairs, Media Relations, Communication Strategy Development, Messaging and Positioning, Public Affairs Training, Issue and Crisis Preparedness and Management.

Firms also specialize in different sectors e.g. Energy, Environment , Healthcare, Food and Nutrition, Information and Communications Technology, Transport, Food and Consumer issues,  Competition Policy ,  Financial Services.
