AALEP HAS ENTERED INTO SEVERAL MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING WITH BALKAN COUNTRIES

While in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, AALEP has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) respectively with the Croatian Lobbyists Society, the Serbian Lobbyists Society, the Montenegro Lobbyists Society and the Macedonian Lobbyist Center.

Each MOU establishes a framework for both parties to work together in an effort to offer joint seminars and facilitate the exchange of professional expertise in the area of public policy advocacy and lobbying.

Balkan countries place a great importance on the educational aspects of public policy advocacy and lobbying. They seek the recognition of Public Policy Advocate (PPA) as a legitimate occupation i.e. giving recognition to PPAs who are qualified to do their job, giving public officials, clients and the general public the necessary level of confidence in their professionalism. To be a recognized occupation, minimum standards of good practice are required, the adoption of a code of ethical practice, commitment to raising standards through a process of continuing professional development. In other words, the prime focus is on articulating national qualification framework which describes the knowledge, skills and competencies PPAs need to be recognized under the respective National Registers of Occupations.
