AALEP ENTERS INTO A PROTOCOL OF COOPERATION WITH ABRIG

AALEP has entered into a Protocol of Cooperation with ASSOCIAÇÃO BRASILEIRA DE RELAÇÃOS INSTUTIONAIS E GOVERNAMENTAIS (ABRIG) (Brazilian Association of Institutional and Government Relations ) in Brasilia.

Founded in 2007 ABRIG is an Association made up of professionals with a widely diverse background e.g. lawyers, economists, engineers, political scientists, entrepreneurs, academics, journalists pursuing four objectives in the area of regulation, compliance, education and the role of lobbying. Since its inception, ABRIG has been speaking on behalf of Government Relations professionals with the Brazilian authorities and participates actively in decision-making processes that affect the activity; and is the only entity having developed a Code of Conduct for Government Relations in Brazil which Code is currently being reviewed to be aligned with new anti-corruption laws at both national and international level. ABRIG has also prepared a draft bill to establish principles, objectives and rules for participation in public policy decision making processes in Brazil

The goal of the Protocol is to foster cooperation for government relations training and education, facilitate the sharing of information and experience through joint research projects and pilot projects; organization of joint seminars, conferences, workshops and the like. 

Both parties will participate in joint projects of mutual interest aimed at direct improvements in the field of government relations training and education e.g. improving the availability and quality of training and education by delivering in cooperation with ABRIG and national institutions, high quality programmes on issues relevant to the European integration process and the promising Brazilian context. Such activities may include the development of guidelines based on good practice, joint study groups, short-term visits of senior members of staff for consultations, lectures and project planning, practical training in government relations, promotion of joint contacts with Brazilian practitioners in order to participate in trans-national government relations projects, mutual support in the planning and implementation of visits to the respective countries.

AALEP and ABRIG look forward to a close and mutually beneficial relationship.
