AALEP IS A DISTINCTIVE PLATFORM FOR PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCATES

  1. Representation: Promoting and defending the interests of Public Policy Advocates in front of the European institutions and serving as the interface.
  2. Networking: Providing a network within which Accredited Public Policy Advocates can come together to discuss common interests and explore solutions to common challenges.
  3. Education: Furthering continuing education for Public Policy Advocates; Promoting and conducting research in the field of political advocacy and spreading the results of the research. Providing opportunity for exchange of experience and opinions related to institutional and political communications through discussion, study and publications. Educating the public about the advancement and improvements of the profession as well as about the principles and techniques of public policy advocacy.
  4. Ethics: Developing and encouraging high standards of services and conduct for Public Policy Advocates accredited to the European Union.
  5. Co-operation with European and international organisations, societies and associations working in public policy advocacy and public affairs. AALEP has entered into Protocols of Cooperation with like-minded organisations in Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic, Former Yugoslav of Macedonia, India,  Laos,  Montenegro, Russian Federation, Serbia and others are currently being negotiated.
  6. Representative Offices: The role of the representative offices is to increase the profile of AALEP in EU Member States and further closer relationships with key stakeholders at Member State level, including relevant national authorities, national parliaments as well as providing advice and counselling on all aspects of membership in AALEP and the activities being pursued. The establishment of a network of representative offices is based on the need to understand cultural diversity and national perspectives to carry out an effective policy dialogue at European level. AALEP’s network of representative offices facilitates the exchange of information and establishes common principles at EU level through the integration of knowledge, experiences and expertise gathered from Member States and EU stakeholders. It provides and facilitates the development of political communication programmes in Member States and helps provide support to countries less advanced in political advocacy.
