WORLD’S NUMBER 4 CAR MAKER

Fiat Chrysler and PSA merger (to be called Stellantis) is expected to occur by the end of the first quarter of 2021. FCA's controlling shareholder is Exor, the holding company of Italy's Agnelli family while PSA's investors are the Peugeot family, the French government and China's Dongfeng.

The deal will create the world's fourth largest car manufacturer in terms of annual sales, trailing only Volkswagen, Toyota and the strategic alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors. The newly formed company will leapfrog Honda, Ford, Hyundai and General Motors to become number four in the increasingly consolidated car industry. With its combined financial strength and skills, the merged entity will be particularly well placed to provide innovative, clean and sustainable mobility solutions, and the merger will €3.7 billion in annual run-rate synergies, mainly thanks to technology, product and platform-related savings as well as scale effects in purchasing.
